You can’t really choose when to begin your life, but at the other end of the scale, the battle over the choice to legally end life has become more complex after Brittany Maynard, a right-to-die advocate, took the ultimate step. Maynard, who had brain cancer, chose to end her life on Saturday as she promised she would about a month ago when she and her husband moved from Northern California to Portland, Ore., where the right to die is legal.
